Who are the tutors at InstantTutor?

A.

We hire diverse tutors who are experts in their academic fields. Many are active teachers while others have retired but still enjoy helping students. Tutors have various college degrees including Ph.D.s and law degrees. We also hire undergraduate and graduate students who excel in certain subjects. All tutors must complete an extensive background check so we can verify their qualifications.

Am I required to make an appointment with a tutor?

A.

Unless there are special circumstances, you do not need to schedule an appointment. We have tutors available 24/7 to assist students. You may need to wait if you request a particular tutor who currently is helping another student.

Can I register for InstantTutor myself?

A.

An adult must register any student that is under the age of 18. If you are 18 or over and have a credit card, you can register yourself.

Is a contract required to use InstantTutor?

A.

No.  InstantTutor is a subscription service. You must register with a credit card. We will charge your credit card each month for as long as you want to use InstantTutor. You are able to cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel your subscription, we will not charge your card for the next month.

What academic areas can I get tutored in?

A.

Tutors are available to help with English, math, science, social studies, AP support, and test prep. We help students in elementary, middle, and high school. College students who need help with remedial reading and math or test prep are welcome. Our tutors provide homework help, guidance on essay writing, general studying, and test prep.

How do I get started?

A.

After registering and selecting a payment plan, simply click "Request a Tutor." The InstantTutor classroom will open so you can choose a subject and provide details on your tutoring needs. An available tutor will join you in the classroom to begin your tutoring session.

When is InstantTutor available?

A.

Tutors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, extra tutors are available during the school year when most of our students need special attention. We are closed on certain holidays. You will be notified of these days when you register as it is based on the country in which you reside.

Can I get homework answers from my tutors?

A.

No. Tutors will help you complete your homework by providing guidance. It is important you know how to answer similar questions or solve comparable problems in the future. You will never be given answers by a tutor.

Do I get a different tutor each time I sign in?

A.

It is possible. However, you can request the same tutor for each session. If they are available, they will work with you. If not, you can request another tutor or wait for your favorite tutor to finish their current session. After completing a session, you can add a tutor to your preferred list.

Is it possible to review a previous session?

A.

Yes. You can record sessions and save them for future review. Access previous sessions from your account page. We provide transcripts as well as videos of your sessions.

What happens if I don’t get the help I need?

A.

If you feel your tutor is not helping you, ask to transfer to another tutor. We understand that tutors and students are not always on the same page. We want you to be 100% satisfied with your tutoring experience. Let us know right away if you have a less than stellar session or do not feel confident with the assistance provided by your tutor.

Who do I contact if there is a problem?

For tutoring issues, contact customer service at (800) 888-8888 during business hours which are 12:00pm to 8:00pm EST Monday through Friday. For tech problems, contact tech support at (800) 888-8888 during the same hours.
